Which lingerie shops take returns free
Of the 11 stockists we track, 3 take a posted return at no cost to you: Bravissimo, Nordstrom and John Lewis. Everywhere else you either pay the postage or lose a fee out of the refund. That difference decides how many sizes you can afford to try at once.
What is happening
Fit is only settled on your body. Two bras marked 32E from two brands will not measure the same, because every brand cuts to its own block.
So the honest way to buy is to order two or three sizes and send back what fails. That only works if sending it back is free.
When postage comes out of your pocket, the shop has moved the cost of its own sizing inconsistency onto you. The garment's cost is the shop's risk to carry, not yours.
The 3 that cost you nothing
Bravissimo: returns accepted for at least 28 days, and Bravissimo pays UK return postage.
Nordstrom: returns by post are free in the US, and Nordstrom sets no fixed window.
John Lewis: returns within 35 days, and John Lewis pays return postage or takes it back in store.
The 8 that cost you something
Figleaves: returns within 28 days; check whether postage is paid at checkout.
ASOS: returns within 28 days; ASOS may deduct a return postage fee from the refund.
Amazon: returns within 30 days; postage is only paid on items the listing marks as free returns.
Marks & Spencer: returns within 35 days; free in store, and a fee may be deducted from a posted return.
Brastop: returns within 28 days; you pay the return postage.
HerRoom: returns within 30 days; you pay return postage unless the item arrived faulty.
Aerie: returns within 60 days; free in store, and a fee is deducted from a posted return.
Rigby & Peller: returns within 28 days; check whether postage is paid at checkout.
How to use this
Order your sister sizes together from one of the 3, wear each for 10 minutes indoors, keep one and send the rest back.
Where the shop takes it back free in store but charges by post, treat it as paid returns unless you will genuinely walk in.
Two of the free three are market-specific: Bravissimo pays UK postage and Nordstrom pays inside the US. Check which market you are ordering in.
What will not fix it
Guessing one size to avoid the return. That is how the drawer fills with bras you paid for and do not wear.
Buying the same size in a new brand because it worked before. Brand blocks differ, and the label is not a measurement.
